Today I bring you good things! I was nominated for a Liebster award and let me tell you that I was completely overjoyed by it. I think I needed something like this to happen. A reminder that sometimes my voice is worth listening to…Thank you for the nomination.
“Liebster, pronounced ‘LEEB’-ster, is a word of German origin and means beloved, preferred, or liked very much among others. It is a term of endearment and likewise, the Liebster award is one created by bloggers for bloggers as a way to acknowledge their work in the bloggersphere.”
Thank you for the nomination Shaira Lundy! I’ve only just come across this wonderful ladies blog but the passion that she writes with is amazing. It jumps out at you and encourages the reader that it’s ok to be honest, that you can struggle but what’s important is your attitude and how you respond to those hardships. It’s a celebration and a lesson in gratitude. Go check her out at
For all of you who are knew to the Liebster award nominations there are a few things that the recipient it required to do, so they are down below for you.
The Liebster Award Rules
Thank the nominator and post a link to his/her blog
1.Display the award on your blog
2.Answer the eleven questions provided by the nominator
3.Nominate 5-11 blogs which have less than 1,000 followers, and let them know they’ve been nominated
4.Make up and post eleven questions for your nominees to answer
5.Post these rules on your blog
So the 11 questions asked by Shaira Lundy are:
1.What is your favorite Disney movie?
Pocahontas. I think as a kid you want to be able to relate to someone and for me Pocahontas was a good beginning to see what it was like to be a strong and independent woman, as well as struggling with the expectations of a culture that you are born in to.
2.What inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging because I didn’t want to be quiet anymore. Anorexia had stolen my voice for such a long time and when I started to get stronger and become engaged in my recovery, it was a way of me reclaiming my power. Also I thought maybe if I could just help one person feel less alone or like they weren’t the only one going through this then that would be a good thing.
3.Describe a time when you felt happy and at peace.
I have moments rather than times when I feel happy or at peace. There are a lot and they are fleeting so I try to hold on to them for as long as I can. The last one was probably when I was in Paris. Me and my best friends spent the afternoon laying in the sunshine with the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and just talked in a way that we haven’t done in years.
4.What music are you currently listening to?
Whatever is on the radio. I don’t really have a favourite type of band or genre.
5.What do you like to do for fun?
I’m not quite sure what I like to do for fun! I love the theatre, that’s fun for me. Going on random walks and hikes. If I’m doing anything that makes me laugh then that’s fun. Laughing is fun!
6.Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My Grandad was probably the biggest inspiration to me. He taught me how to be a good person and how it doesn’t matter how much crap that happens to you in your life, you can survive it.
7.Name one thing you’ve always wanted to do.
Go on an epic road trip through California.
8.Describe three things you like most about yourself (mentally and/or physically).
I like that I am – most of the time anyway – a good person. I am not mean or spiteful and I have respect for others.
I like that my hair when it behaves itself. It requires very little effort and still manages to look good despite my laziness in it’s care.
Finally…I like that I’m smart enough to know that there are some things in life that I’ll never be able to figure out and I’m ok with that.
9.What is your favorite quote?
That is a hard one!!!
“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.” – Nora Ephron
10.If you knew someone who was about to give up on something, what would you tell them?
Giving up might be easier right now, but will giving up get you to the place you want to be? Will it make you happy? You might feel like you have nothing left in you to get through this, the continue…but you do. Stop doubting yourself and know that you are more than capable. You’ll figure it out.
11.Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Alive. Recovered. Working in a job that I love with a family of my own. Happy.
